Here’s an interview I did with Eoin Colfer for Venue Magazine. Eoin Colfer is the bestselling kids’ author and creator of ‘Artemis Fowl’ novels. He also wrote the sixth instalment to ‘The Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy’.
It’s not easy to make a criminal mastermind really interesting – you see so many of them nowadays. You can’t just give him metal hand any more, that’s not enough. So I was trying to think of what I could do and I remember seeing a picture of my little brother Dolan in his confirmation suit and he totally looked like a little Bond villain. I thought that’s not a bad idea actually – a Bond villain who’s only 12. So that’s where I got the idea for Artemis Fowl.
